Aoun to UNIFIL Commander: Lebanon keen on UNSC Resolution 1701
President Michel Aoun highlighted Lebanon's keenness on the implementation of UN Security Council's Resolution 1701 as well as on preserving security and stability in the south, renewing rejection of any action that might cause tension along borders.
"Lebanon is a peace-loving country and it is working on anchoring peace despite the repeated Israeli violations of the related international resolutions," Aoun said during a meeting with UNIFIL Commander, General Stefano Del Col, at Baabda Palace Tuesday.
The President also stressed on "the ongoing cooperation and coordination between the Lebanese Armed Forces and the UNIFIL in the south, as well as on the importance of the measures adopted by Lebanon and at the international level to face any attempt targeting the security and safety of the southerners."
"Lebanon is still waiting for the field investigation results regarding the tunnels' issue," he said.
Aoun had earlier met with French Ambassador to Lebanon, Bruno Foucher, with whom he discussed the situation along the southern borders, in addition to the latest political developments and the bilateral relations.
